Our Clinical Pharmacology/Translational Medicine group seeks an Associate Director or Principal Scientific Investigator of Pharmacokinetics, Dynamics and Metabolism (PKDM) to develop and apply PK and PD modeling methods to improve understanding and development of current drugs and others in development. Initial projects will focus on diabetes and obesity with particular emphasis on dose finding, dose tolerance, dose proportionality, bioavailability, drug-drug interactions, and special populations. The chosen candidate will work closely and collaboratively with scientists in other departments within Amylin, and is expected to identify appropriate internal resources and establish and work within cross-functional teams. This individual will also work closely with and manage outside contractors and participate in the preparation of regulatory documents and other professional reports. He/she will be expected to write supporting code to test and implement models.

An advanced degree, Pharm.D. or Ph.D. is preferred, however, appropriate experience is most important, as is at least 5 years of experience designing and developing PK or PD type models. Candidates must be able to work independently and within teams as projects demand and be familiar with standard PK/PD platforms such as WinNonlin® and NONMEM. A background in statistics and creative application of statistics to clinical studies is strongly desired. Familiarity with regulatory guidelines, and experience preparing documents for filings would be helpful. In addition to a thorough understanding of PK and PD modeling, key to success in this role is an inclination for intellectual collaboration, and the ability to seek out colleagues with complementary skills to establish mutually productive working relationships.
