Associate Director, Primary Market Research - (Job Number: 0806105) DescriptionEthicon, Inc., a member of Johnson & Johnson's Family of Companies, is recruiting for an Associate Director, Primary Market Research, located in Somerville, NJ. Ethicon, Inc. develops and markets products for surgery; wound management and advanced wound care treatment. Products are marketed through four divisions: Ethicon Products for precise wound closure and tissue repair; CardioVations for minimally invasive cardiac procedures; Ethicon Women's Health & Urology for minimally invasive women's health procedures; and Johnson & Johnson Wound Management for hemostasis and advanced wound care. The Associate Director, Primary Market Research acts as an advisor to appropriate business units. Creates value through primary marketing research projects, contributes to successful business decisions and strategies, identifies/creates sources of competitive advantage and helps business unit to achieve annual goals. Supervises activities of managers and outside consultants. Position serves as a key representative on WW Marketing team, Strategic Planning team, New Business Development team, R&D team and has responsibility for working with business partners to identify, plan for and prioritize all of the primary market research activities required to drive success of the business unit. Act as an advisor and teammate to business units and contribute to successful business decisions and strategies. Serve as the key representative on Worldwide Marketing teams, Strategic Planning team, New Product Development teams. Work with the business partners to prioritize all the primary research activities required to drive the success of the business. Work with the business to ensure that sufficient resources are allocated for primary market research to ensure market understanding to enable sound, information-based business decisions. Help the business create and identify competitive advantages and achieve annual ROI. Design, manage and interpret marketing research providing actionable recommendations to the business. Work across WWBI functions to produce a seamless, matrixed approach to providing business problem solutions. Share learnings, knowledge, experience with the broader WWBI team and serve as a resource for others on the team. Constantly think about new and innovative approaches to answering our business questions, and bring in new thinking and new vendors where appropriate. May manage and oversee one to three managers or consultants providing methodology, design or analysis support as needed. Assist the Director, Primary Market Research and the Director, Business Information Worldwide (BIWW) in creating the value of the market research function within Ethicon. Help to recruit and retain talented personnel and help facilitate the development of a career path to develop corporate expertise. A minimum of 10 years Market Research experience required with a Bachelor's Degree required; a minimum of 7 years Market Research experience required with an MBA. A minimum of 7 years experience in a regulated healthcare sector is required; Medical Device, OTC Consumer and/or Pharma experience preferred. A minimum of 3 years of supervisory experience is preferred. Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in marketing research, business analytics or related field is required. Experience working with and leading cross-functional teams required. 2+ years International marketing research experience preferred. A minimum of 5 years experience managing outside vendors is required. Familiarity with pharmaceutical secondary data sources, databases and syndicated reports required. Outstanding listening, verbal and written communication, planning and analytical skills are required. Ability to influence, negotiate with business partners, build and defend arguments and reach consensus of opinion required. Deep knowledge of qualitative and quantitative marketing research methodologies and related statistics required. Proficiency in Microsoft Word, EXCEL, PowerPoint and Outlook is required. Excellent Project Management skills required. Strong analytical skills for understanding market dynamics and identifying business needs required. Proven Track record in serving as "internal business consultant" required. Flexible and adaptable team player with ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects and requests with professional and positive attitude required. Results-driven with ability to lead a team and create a productive environment for employees to consistently maintain high performing standards required. Relevant area of expertise in women's Health, Wound Management or Wound Closure preferred. Familiarity with pharmaceutical secondary data sources, databases and syndicated reports required.
