Associate Director (Project Management) - (Job Number: 0802437) DescriptionThe Associate Director (Project Management) will be responsible for the provision of accurate and up to date project management information to the Management Board and for providing a 'portfolio view' of the individual programs being undertaken by the venture. Such information would include timelines, plans and updates, logistical support and resource demand. Identify issues and potential operational hurdles within a program/project and propose options for resolution. Works with the NewCo Management Board & other stakeholders to ensure their needs are being met. Would develop organizational standards for Project Management & would be responsible for developing a project management methodology. Would also act as the Project Manager, in support of at least one Product Development Team (PDT) and would therefore be responsible for coordination of the development plan, its creation/revision and maintenance, as well as all project-related documentation. Works in close collaboration with Product Team Leader for assigned projects. Essential Functions: Provides key data to Management Board on project status and any impact on the NewCo's overall portfolio (e.g. timelines, budget, resources, delays). Reviews key data prior for quality & accuracy prior to submission to the Management Board. Develops organizational standards for Project Management. (templates, processes, best practices). Maintains key PM documentation and ensures all project plans are kept up-to-date. Manages cross-functional links using planning tools and acts as the interface with R&D Finance and line management for integrated project budget/resources. Oversees and verifies consistency of cost estimates. Provides expert planning and operational support to the PDT. Contributes to the creation of the development plan and other project information. Ensures accuracy of resource requirements requested within the constraints of the environment, bearing in mind the project type & scope and the demands on the portfolio. Manages the process of cross-functional integration of operational activities for the project team. Project Integration Management ' ensuring that the various elements of the project are properly coordinated including overall coordination of project plan development, project plan execution and change control. Project Risk Management ' coordination of risk identification, risk quantitation, risk response development and risk response control. Project Time Management ' ensure timely completion of the project; Includes coordination of activity definition, estimation of activity duration, schedule development and schedule control. Track progress of the team and identify problems and bottlenecks within projects. A minimum of a Bachelor's degree in the life sciences, chemistry, or business, (supplemented with a master's or doctoral degree, preferred) plus a minimum of 10 years pharmaceutical industry experience, including a minimum of three or more years experience in project management. Related Experience: Previous management of project managers, or project management department. Previous work in international and multidisciplinary drug development teams, ideally in a cell therapy environment. Detailed knowledge of the basic science. Expert knowledge of the drug development process. Detailed knowledge of the manufacturing, regulatory and business requirements. Detailed knowledge of J&J customs and business practice. Strong planning and tracking skills, able to see big picture, well organized, focused on results, capable of managing multiple projects, excellent time management with respect to priorities and self management. Expert problem solving skills developing creative solutions to maintain project timelines; ability to resolve conflicts in an objective fashion. Expert tactical thinking and contingency planning with consideration to the project objectives. Expert leadership skills in a team environment or in other organizational assignments to facilitate/optimize contributions of team members as individuals and members of a cohesive team. Strong conflict management/negotiation skills. Strong interpersonal skills for bridging between scientific and business participants, for negotiating timelines and for effective interactions with all levels of the organization.
