Associate Director, Technical Assurance - (Job Number: 0716709) DescriptionNeutrogena Corporation, a member of the Johnson & Johnson Family of Companies, is currently recruiting an Associate Director of Technical Assurance located in Los Angeles, CA.The Associate Director of Technical Assurance will report to the Director of Technical Transfer / Technical Assurance in the Research and Development organization. The Associate Director will lead the transfer reformulation of existing products from R&D to the manufacturing environment. The candidate will directly manage half a dozen professionals. This position requires excellent coaching, development skills and highly developed people management skills. This individual will demonstrate a proven track record and possess the ability to build / train an excellent technical team. The Associate Director will seek, drive and accelerate change to produce lasting and significant impact. The individual will engage, energize and support people throughout the change process. The candidate will interact and partner internally with other departments and divisions and externally with business partners. The Associate Director will create new and innovative paths to technical excellence and robust process designs to enable flawless execution of cost saving projects from ideation to bench scale and finally manufacturing scale. The individual will be responsible for delivering product improvements and packaging redesign and defining the process for production of products for commercialization. The Associate Director will establish and maintain best practices, ideas and technologies for designing robust cost saving pipelines for personal care products. The individual will be expected to effectively leverage experience and in-depth knowledge of formulation, manufacturing processes and equipment related to commercialization of personal care / OTC products. The candidate will provide technical leadership by applying creative problem-solving skills to operational challenges. In addition, the individual will perform formulation redesign and technical transfer. This Associate Director will be expected to coordinate internal and external resources to assure timely, well-designed, robust new reformulations and assure a flawless execution for commercialization. The candidate must have a minimum of a Bachelor's or Master's degree with 10+ years of personal care / consumer industry experience. A PhD is considered an asset. Familiarity with cGMP and other regulatory requirements is highly desired. A strong knowledge of the personal care and / or OTC development process is required. It is highly desired that the candidate have training, certification and/or education in Process Excellence (Yellow Belt, Green Belt, Black Belt) and/or Project Management. Excellent oral and written communication skills, and solid presentation skills are required. It is essential that candidate be a self-motivated leader possessing excellent people management and scientific problem solving skills. The candidate must have a proven track record of both technical and leadership skills. Deep understanding of product development for personal care (skin care), OTC and consumer goods is highly desired. Knowledge of packaging design is desired. Management experience including oversight of technical staff and large-scale project leadership is essential. The ideal candidate will be people-oriented and metrics driven with exceptional communications and influencing skills across R&D, Operations, and Marketing. Qualified candidates must have the ability to work in a highly matrixed organization. This position requires excellent coaching/development skills. Qualified candidates must have the ability to effectively leverage experience and knowledge of manufacturing processes and equipment related to commercialization of consumer / OTC products.
