Associate Director of Formulation Development

The International Partnership for Microbicides (IPM) is looking for talented and dedicated scientific professionals who want to participate in our unique mission – to develop new tools that give women worldwide the power to protect themselves from this deadly epidemic. We seek exceptional candidates with experience in drug development and a desire to contribute to cutting-edge products and technologies to help stop the spread of HIV. The Associate Director of Formulation Development will be an integral part of the Research and Development group and will be responsible managing technical issues associated with product development efforts. The technical focus of the position will primarily involve managing the internal drug product formulation development efforts associated with IPM supported microbicide products.

 

Specific responsibilities include:

 Contribute technically and fully manage multiple external product formulation programs for IPM microbicide compounds.Identify new product and formulation technology opportunities relevant to the IPM mission and initiate new development programs for these opportunities.Support pre-clinical and clinical components of overall product development programs.Support the development of drug product manufacturing efforts and scale-up development.Support regulatory components of product development programs by contributing to regulatory submissions, data management, etc.

The successful candidate should have a Masters or PhD degree in pharmaceutical sciences or a closely related field with 10 or more years of experience in pharmaceutical product or technology development. The successful candidate should be able to operate independently of supervision, and provide guidance on operational and strategic development issues related to IPM product and technology development efforts.

 

Important Knowledge and Skill Sets:

 Working knowledge and experience with regulatory aspects of drug product development.Capacity to effectively trouble shoot formulation development challenges.Experience working with external contractors, CMO’s, consultants.Generation of budgets and development plans.Knowledge of GMP compliance.An understanding of infectious disease or reproductive health.
