Associate Engineer - Polymer Operations - College Hire - (Job Number: 0806168) DescriptionETHICON, Inc., a member of the Johnson & Johnson Family of Companies, is currently recruiting for an Associate Engineer - Polymer Operations - College Hire for the facility located in Cornelia, GA. ETHICON develops and markets products within three divisions: ETHICON Products for wound closure and tissue repair; Johnson & Johnson Wound Management with biosurgical technologies to manage intra-operative bleeding and postoperative leaking, as well as advanced wound care products; and ETHICON Women's Health & Urology with minimally invasive gynecological and urological solutions in stress urinary incontinence, pelvic floor repair and uterine disorders. The Associate Engineer's responsibilities will include: Development, analysis, testing and evaluation of commercial-scale manufacturing processes; Planning and executing experiments designed to characterize and optimize manufacturing processes for yield and reliability; Defining process metrics and operating parameters. The selected candidate will also write technical reports, project updates and status reports; Troubleshoot production line problems; Write and maintain production documentation, such as manufacturing formulas and standard operating procedures. This candidate will work closely with manufacturing and R&D on design and development of tooling; Executing test plans and performing validations on the equipment, components, and assembly methodology; Develop schedules and coordinate activities across functions; Serve as a liaison for technical process issues and facilitate technology transfer from process development. In addition, the Associate Engineer will conduct research activities related to the development of processes associated with new or existing products; Participate in troubleshooting and resolving product and process problems; Deliver tasks that directly relate to successful commercial scale production of new products; Perform process development tasks ranging in scale from lab to production; Function well as a team member executing on specific assignments defined by team leaders; Effectively operate in an environment from concept through commercial scale; Utilize statistical and analytical problem solving; Develop understanding of company business systems and work well in a team environment; Ensure fulfillment of all regulatory, safety, industrial hygiene and environmental requirements for new processes/equipment implemented. Candidates must have a minimum of a Bachelor's degree or Master's degree in either Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or equivalent scientific discipline. One related internship or co-op experience is highly preferred. 5% travel will be required. Candidates will ideally have knowledge of morphology and polymer processing or injection molding. Polymer chemistry/formulations chemistry experience preferred. Knowledge of statistical analysis preferred as are excellent communication, organizational and interpersonal skills. Preferred attributes include working knowledge of applied manufacturing engineering principles (design of experiments, six sigma, statistical process control, etc.); Troubleshooting experience with electro-mechanical systems; Industry experience in pharmaceutical, medical device, food or plastics; Materials experience with polymers and experience working in GMP environments.
