Centocor Research and Development, develops innovative biomedicines. The world leader in monoclonal antibody production and technology, Centocor has brought critical biologic therapies to patients suffering from debilitating immune disorders.This position will be responsible for the planning, execution and analysis of a wide variety of experiments, tests and procedures following well-defined guidelines. He or she will assist in the development and implementation of purification processes, scale-up procedures and testing relevant to processing and evaluation of monoclonal antibodies and other biologics.With limited guidance from experienced scientist, the successful candidate will develop and/or modify protein purification techniques, based on an in-depth knowledge of lab techniques and an understanding of the relevant research and development objectives. Makes detailed observations and records data. Interpret results of experiments, tests and procedures conducted. Perform graphic analysis of data as needed. Correct and summarize information and data for inclusion in technical reports, protocols, and scientific publications. Plan daily, weekly activities based on goals and timetables established by supervisor for specific projects.The candidate must maintain a written record of studies in the form of notebooks, technical reports, summaries, and protocols, present data at group meetings, perform quantitative analyses and assist in writing manuscripts. Maintain laboratory instruments and supplies and a clean and safe laboratory environment. A minimum of a Bachelors of Science Degree with 5 or more years of relevant industry experience is required. A Masters of Science Degree (or equivalent) with a minimum of 2 or more years of relevant industry experience is preferred. A degree in Biological sciences or appropriate related degree is required. Knowledge in Biologics and protein purification technology is required. A minimum of 1 year of hands-on experience in protein purification and basic analysis is required. Experience with chromatography, membrane filtration (e.g. UF/DF), HPLC, SDS Page, and Spectroscopy is preferred. Experience working with monoclonal antibodies (Mab) is preferred. Experience in GMP is preferred. Technical writing skills for study protocols, summary, and reports are preferred. A proven record of scientific accomplishment as evidenced by internal or external publications, posters, and/or presentations, etc is preferred. The ability to be self-motivated, productive and have good computer, communication, and scientific problem solving skills is required.
