Associate Scientist (TV AS 25056)

Lexicon Pharmaceuticals, Inc. is a biopharmaceutical company focused on the discovery and development of breakthrough treatments for human disease located in The Woodlands Texas. We are systematically discovering the physiological and behavioral functions of genes to identify potential points of therapeutic intervention, or drug targets.  We have identified and validated more than 100 targets with promising profiles for drug discovery. Our physiology-based approach to understanding gene function and our use of knockouts to model expected drug action are designed to identify new ways to treat major human diseases and create an extensive pipeline of clinical and preclinical programs in the therapeutic areas of diabetes and obesity, cardiovascular disease, psychiatric and neurological disorders, cancer, immune system disorders and ophthalmic disease. 

 

We are currently recruiting for an Associate Scientist.

 

This individual will play a key role within the Target Validation team. Responsibilities will include, but not be limited to: designing, developing and executing Magnetic Resonance Imaging experiments to study genetic and drug effects on physiology; imaging experiments using modalities including CATscan and DEXA to study genetic and drug effects physiology; supervise ongoing imaging experiments in Level One Target Validation (bone microCT, DEXA, NMR); contributing hands on time in the laboratory as needed to meet organizational goals; and other duties as assigned or required.

 Masters Degree or higher in Molecular Physiology/ Small Animal Imaging M.S. with 5 years directly relevant experience or a Ph.D. with 0-2 years post-doctoral experience.  Directly relevant research experience is requiredAnimal handling experience preferred Excellent communication (both written and verbal) and organization skills Ability and desire to work in a team-oriented environment
