Ortho Clinical Diagnostics, Inc., a member of Johnson & Johnson's Family of Companies, is recruiting for an Automated Equipment Mechanic, located in Rochester, NY. The Automated Equipment Mechanic will troubleshoot and repair high speed automated equipment in Reagent Manufacturing. The equipment primarily will be continuous-web assembly equipment and packaging equipment, both of which include a wide variety of electrical, mechanical, and electro-mechanical components. Components include motors, drives, gears, bearings, presses, belts, printers, programmable logic controllers, sensors, and vision systems. The repair tasks being performed are frequently critical to department and product performance, and as such, the individual in this position will apply extreme rigor to troubleshooting and repair tasks. This individual will also thoroughly document work activities via a Computerized Maintenance Management System, as well as completing various other computer-related tasks (time reporting, spare part retrieval, document management, training). This person will work as part of a team of technicians and mechanics in support of a manufacturing operation, and therefore must thrive in a cross-functional team environment. This individual will work in an FDA regulated medical device manufacturing operation and therefore be required to understand and comply with appropriate regulations. Finally, this individual will support a 24x7 operation, and therefore work a rotating schedule of twelve-hour shifts (two twelve-hour days, followed by two twelve-hour nights, followed by four days off). Nights and weekends are part of the regular work schedule. A minimum of a 2 year mechanical/technician, or related degree or completed apprenticeship with at least 1-year of experience is required. Military experience is a plus. Experience with Microsoft Office is preferred. Excellent troubleshooting skills are a must. Understanding of machine controls and programmable logic controllers is required. Must be familiar with automated equipment, electronics, pneumatics, hydraulics, and other equipment-related components. Knowledge of mechanical assembly and machine dynamics fundamentals is required. Familiarity with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing, as well as the ability to read and interpret mechanical and electrical drawings is an asset. Must have the ability to use a variety of hand tools to complete precision repair and assembly tasks. The ability to use diagnostic tools such as chart recorders and oscilloscopes is desired. Must be willing and able to work 12-hour rotating shifts (6AM - 6PM for two days, then 6PM - 6AM for two days, then four days off). Must be willing and able to work in Rochester, NY.
