Cambridge Scientific is seeking a Biological Lab Technician to work on-site at a leading medical facility in Frederick, MD!

Candidates MUST have BSL-3/BSL-4 experience working with CDC select agents!

Purpose

Work includes development and testing of reagents for immunodiagnostic assays for the detection and diagnosis of biological warfare threats and other infectious and non-infectious disease. In addition, the work involves production and quality control of these reagents for use by military and civilian customers. Testing, evaluation, and characterization of reagents and assays may involve a variety of techniques including but not limited to polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis, western blotting, ELISA, virus and bacterial production, purification, and characterization, cell culture, and chromatography techniques. The candidate should be willing to perform infectious agent experiments in Biosafety level 3 and to be trained for Biosafety level 4 work.

Duties:Develops and tests monoclonal and polyclonal antibodies useful immunodiagnostic assays for the detection and diagnosis of biological weapons. Produces and characterizes antibodies developed under this contract. Conducts protein analysis including western blot assays, monoclonal antibody characterization, enzyme-linked immunoassays, and chromatographic purification techniques. Conducts serological and antigenic detection assays Prepares and evaluates biothreat agent stocks (including BSL-3 and BSL-4 agents).

Requirements
Have a Bachelor’s degree and experience in microbiology or related field.    Candidates MUST have several years of experience in a BSL-3/4 lab environment required; MUST have recombinant DNA experience (cloning, sequencing, and protein expression) Must be proficient in aforementioned tasks. Ability to acquire a favorable Secret clearance is required. Must be a United States Citizen and have the ability to obtain a Secret Security Clearance Special Immunizations may be required.
