WMR Biomedical is an early stage, venture backedcompany focused on the development of biomaterials-based medical devices.  We are currently recruiting an enthusiastic,motivated candidate who is interested in working in a dynamic start-upenvironment.

 

Overallresponsibility:

Reports to Manager of Materials Science &Engineering. Assists materials scientists and engineers in the fabrication andcharacterization of biomaterials and prototypes.

 

Keyareas of responsibilityFabrication of polymeric films and prototypes and participation in development of new fabrication methodsCharacterization of biomaterials and prototypes by visual inspection, scanning electronic microscopy, mechanical analysis, and analytical methods according to established test methodsParticipation in the development of new test methods for characterization of biomaterials and prototypesDocumentation of activities in laboratory notebook entries in accordance with company SOPsElectronic compilation of characterization dataAssist in lab operations including equipment calibration and maintenance

 

Consults withChemists, Biologists, Materials Scientists, and EngineersQuality AssuranceAll levels of management

 

QualificationsAssociates degree in engineering or equivalent experience3-5 years in an R&D environment; biomaterials or polymer processing experience a plusExtensive knowledge of Microsoft Office products including Word and ExcelPrevious experience is highly desired in the one or all of the following: polymer fabrication or processing, scanning electron microscopy, and mechanical testing.Ability to take direction, work independently and effectively interact with various groups and personnel Excellent communication and computer skillsAbility to work in a dynamic, small medical device start-up
