Business Development Manager
The Business Development Manager is responsible for discovering and developing strategic, dynamic client partnerships. As a visual and public representative, it is critical to achieve the extension of exemplary customer service to continuously drive long-lasting collaborative partnerships within the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industry. Further, it is the overall responsibility of the Business Development Manager to provide industry driven feedback and environmental information to management in order to ensure that alignment is maintained between management and the marketplace. The BDM meets department and company goals by:
· Enhancing client partnerships with existing clients
· Developing new client relationships through “cold calling” and sales calls
· Generating new proposal opportunities and expand the Almac Clinical Technologies existing base of business
· Collaborating with BD staff from other Almac divisions to maximize the Almac benefit of each client relationship
· Delivering service and capabilities presentations to clients
· Delivering protocol specific presentations to clients
· Negotiating proposal timelines and budgets
· Acting as liaison between client and Almac internal teams
· Attending trade shows as instructed by management
· Performing client surveys on regular basis (performance analysis)
· Articulating the benefit of the Almac Clinical Technologies solution for IVRS, IXRS, ePRO, and EDC
Promotes teamwork by:
· Attending staff meetings as required
· Meeting individual and company goals as established
· Adhering to company and department policies
· Partnering with BD staff where clinical expertise is needed
Performs and completes administrative responsibilities:
· Assisting Contract and Proposal Group to generate written response to client RFP’s
· Assisting Senior Business Development Managers with existing account maintenance and service
· Reviewing final versions of proposals and associated cost estimates
· Reviewing and approve final costs upon User Requirement Specification completion
· Providing administrative support for timelines and budget negotiations
· Assisting Contract and Proposal Group maintaining project budget information for project management
· Assisting in project budget forecasting
· Developing and maintain strategic client development plans
· Assisting in the development of quarterly and annual sales projections
· Supporting administration on accounts receivable issues
· Participating in project status meetings – financial and marketing (as requested)
· Attending staff meetings as required
Maintains professional knowledge by:
· Attending educational seminars, workshops or webinars and by regularly reviewing industry-related publications.
Performs other responsibilities as assigned by management.
· Associate’s Degree (Business Management, Finance and/or Life Sciences) required; Bachelor’s degree (Business Management, Finance and/or Life Sciences) preferred. Minimum of 2-3 years of sales and marketing experience within life sciences vertical; Three years experience in pharmaceutical research or CRO preferred.
· Normal Business Hours based on a nine-hour workday; availability to provide coverage beyond regular business hours during the week.
· Travel required, typically 30%
· Proven cold calling, prospecting, and new client development success
· Strong communication skills (written and verbal)
· Strong negotiation skills
· Strong presentation skills
· Strong organizational skills
