This position requires a bachelor’s degree or 8 years purchasing experience in a manufacturing environment or equivalent.  Experience in the medical-device industry a must.  Experience in procurement and supplier management in electronics is essential.  Must have demonstrated strong communication and negotiating skills.  Should also be familiar with general manufacturing cost accounting principles and have a working knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet applications.  Knowledge in Demand Flow Technology, JIT techniques and Lean Manufacturing a plus.  GMP awareness is an essential requirement.

 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: Contact vendors to obtain price quotations.Contact vendors to place purchase orders and expedite purchases.Enter new purchase orders into automated ERP/MRP system.Negotiate pricing/deliveries to facilitate cost reduction programs.Maintain accurate databases for cost and lead times.Be cognizant of current production problems, field failures and customer complaints.Advise management of critical activities relative to supply and backorder problems.Source new suppliers.

 

MINIMUM REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

·  Bachelor’s degree or eight years related experience or equivalent combination

·  Training in Demand Flow Technology, JIT techniques, Lean Manufacturing

·  Negotiating skills

·  Familiar with general manufacturing cost accounting principles

·  Minimum of five years experience in purchasing in a medical device manufacturing environment.

·  Working knowledge of work processing and spreadsheet applications.

·  Strong communication skills

·  Ability to work in a team environment and independently as required.

·  GMP background.

·  Experience in procurement and supplier management in electronics is essential.

·  Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundaments of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. 

·  Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations.

·  Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. 

·  Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
