Job Description Category Manager - Laboratory Consumables The Category Manager for Laboratory Consumables position is expected to lead a product management team, deploying strategies to source, negotiate, contract, implement programs and otherwise manage the consumables product categories with in the Research Market Division of Fisher Scientific. The Category Manager must demonstrate leadership using ‘best practices” to obtain products from suppliers at the lowest cost consistent with considerations of quality, reliability of source and urgency of need. The role will be instrumental in developing sourcing and category management strategies to support the global category strategy. The category manager will lead the strategy implementation in the US market to drive cost savings and improve financial return on these categories for the corporation.  Developing a strong team consistent with the high expectations of this position is important as is creating and implementing best practices and process improvement.BA/BS with major/minor in sciences/business required MBA or graduate degree preferred 5-10 years experience in strategic sourcing, supplier management or product management At least 2-3 years of direct supervisory and/or team leadership experience 15-20% travel, some international is expected Experience with sales, marketing or other commercial functional areas preferred Experience in the scientific supplies business or familiarity with suppliers or customers preferred Knowledge of laboratory products and applications, actual working laboratory experience or understanding of customer requirements in consumable laboratory products considered a plus  Leadership skills to manage team of people and their performance with Product and Category Management activities. • Direct supervisory and/or team leadership experience • Excellent interpersonal, customer orientation and problem solving, “can do it” attitude • Multi tasking experience and flexibility to address immediate priorities and still manage deadlines with longer term projects and strategic initiatives.    Education: BachelorsJob Level: Experienced
