This position has responsibility for implementing in vivo studies, evaluating the efficacy and safety of therapeutic proteins in select animal models and to assisting in planning and management of programs to support in vivo efforts" Responsible for the implementation of in vivo efficacy, safety, and pharmacokinetic studies in selected animal models using protein therapeutics. " Oversee clinical and surgical techniques for laboratory animals which will be focused on further exploration of the biology of the bone morphogenetic proteins (BMPs). " AAnalyze, interpret and present experimental results, prepare technical reports and protocols." Develop and apply emerging technologies to help meet research objectives." Assist in the development of in vivo animal models and assessments (such as radiography) to support in vivo efforts. " Work closely with technical and professional staff both within and outside of Stryker, on occasion train and supervise other staff, and will also assist in initiating and monitoring contract research organization (CRO) studies as required." Manipulate and maintain laboratory equipment and handle other logistical issues involved in general laboratory operations.Requires a DVM/VMD (veterinary doctorate). Previous experience with animals and surgical techniques is essential. Specific area of animal model expertise not critical, but orthopedic and/or arthritis background a plus. The successful candidate will have significant direct animal handling experience and be proficient in the administration of therapeutics by various routes, blood and tissue collection, and performing surgical procedures as necessary. Excellent written/oral communication and organizational skills are essential The candidate must have significant organizational skills and be able to work independently.
