Clinical and Training Specialist - Clinical Laboratory Scientist
IRIS International, Inc., a profitable and dynamic, publicly traded, In-vitro Diagnostics Company has a growth opportunity for a Clinical and Training Specialist who is a Clinical Laboratory Scientist in our Chatsworth, CA corporate office.
IRIS International is a leader in automated urinalysis technology with its workstations installed in major medical institutions throughout the world. IRIS International manufactures the only clinical analyzers, which use real-time video flow imaging, displaying microscopic images on a video screen. The systems are operated by touch screen interfaces pioneered by the Company for use in urinalysis and microscopic urinalysis of body fluids. The Company’s imaging systems use patented and proprietary Automate Intelligent Microscopy (AIM) technology for automating microscopic procedures, enabling clinical laboratory technologists to rapidly and efficiently analyze and process specimens automatically, significantly reducing the costly and time-consuming manual steps required for microscopic analysis.
Basic Job Function
Serve as a primary clinical technical and training resource to customers, distributors, field service engineers and other departments via classroom training, telephone and email in the areas of product features, installation, use and subject matter theory.
Responsibilities and Duties:Answer, evaluate, prioritize and document incoming telephone and email requests for clinical technical assistance from users/distribution partners/other departments experiencing problems or having theoretical/operational questions on all Iris Diagnostic products and Urinalysis.
Assist manager in developing troubleshooting tools, training tools, quick reference guides, operators manuals, key operator guides and FAQs related to clinical issues with Iris' products to assist customers in the field and to help with customer training.
Conduct formal customer classroom training on designated Iris instruments and consumables using adult learning techniques and with appreciation of different learning styles; Provide CEU’s for in-house and external workshops; Conduct key operator/train-the trainer training at basic and advanced levels; Provide additional technical and professional skill training as required; Ensure highest effectiveness of training delivery using evaluation feedback and then incorporation of value-added ideas; Develop, update and provide materials to teach key operators to train others; Maintain the learning environment for maximum learning.
As necessary, field travel to resolve customer issues, and to enhance their understanding of the FAS job function and Iris’s customer needs; May be required to travel and cross train with FAS.
Log and track calls using current Customer Relationship Management database and perform trend analysis on application / clinical issues with Iris Diagnostic products.
Work closely with other departments: Field Application Support: to ensure in-house and field training are synchronized. Provide the Field Application Support team tools for field training and be a source of technical clinical knowledge, so they can better support Iris’s customers. Clinical Affairs: to conduct clinical studies and evaluations, as needed. Quality Assurance: to identify problematic reagents; test returned reagents/products as needed. Marketing, and Research and Development: to provide input in the development and support of new and existing products. Field Service Department/Field Service Manager: to ensure calls are triaged properly to expedite service/repair.
Education
Minimum B.S./B.A in science field; Medical Laboratory Technologist or Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS)background; MT, ASCP,or California License strongly desired
Experience
2-5 years experience in medical diagnostics industry or clinical laboratory environment; prior teaching or training experience preferred
Specific Skills/Knowledge:
Troubleshooting skills, computer proficiency [specifically in PowerPoint and other slide/desktop applications], strong customer service and training skills, superior facilitation and presentation skills, knowledge of adult learning principles and application, strong oral and written communication skills, capability to manage multiple, simultaneous projects; ability to interface with customers and coworkers with diplomacy and tact.
