COPY EDITOR

 

The Nucleus Group, a leading medical communications agency providing a wide range of marketing services to world leading pharmaceutical and diagnostic companies; as well as medical education through a broad spectrum of activities including symposia, scientific editorial content, newsletters, speaker-bureaus as well as Web and multi-media services is seeking full-time Account Management.  This team member is responsible for reviewing and editing of copy and layout materials in a timely manner while ensuring that all materials convey clear and accurate messages and are compliant with corporate policy.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

 

· Ensure editorial accuracy and style/format consistency across the contents of  manuscripts, presentations, monographs, slide kits and other materials at various production stages (including hard copy, CD-ROMs, websites, etc.)

· Verify scientific basis of statements within written materials by referring to peer-reviewed journal articles.

· Maintain in-house style guides for various clients.

· Proofreading against the approved copy to ensure correct grammar and spelling, absence of typographical errors, good typography (broken letter, appropriate spacing and overall fit with layout), accuracy of job content, and presence of correct trademarks, generic coverage, sign off information, and brief summary or prescribing information.

· Review all proofs to ensure overall accuracy and correct set-up of piece (e.g., folios, headlines, fair balance, sign-off information, and positioning of same).

 

EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS

 

· A bachelor’s degree in biological sciences and 3-5 years proofreading/copy  editing experience, OR

· Any appropriate combination of education and experience

· General computer literacy required with specific knowledge of Microsoft Office (including both Word and PowerPoint).

· Reviewing and editing of copy and layout materials in a timely manner while ensuring that all materials convey clear and accurate messages and are compliant with corporate policy.
