Ensures that all database related project goals are accomplished according to specifications and business objectives and sound technical principals. Evaluates and recommends new functionality needed and ensures the proper design, configuration, and testing within their area of responsibility. Heavy emphasis is made on design related issues to the physical and logical schema aspects of database projects. Responsible for the daily monitoring and operational duties for the daily maintenance of databases used in King. Interacts with the user community and members of the application support group on a daily basis. Reports and provides project status reports to the Director – Basis Support. Additionally the candidate would be willing to grow into the SAP administration Basis/WAS area via both formal and non-formal (OJT) training. Other areas of involvement would be in the area of HP Dataprotector and Openview.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:• Provides technical database administration support to all project teams.• Handles complex hardware and software configurations and technical design.• Responsible for the implementation and maintenance of required database solutions.• Ensures that all project goals for their position are accomplished according to specifications and business objectives.• Evaluates and recommends new functionality needed and insures the proper design, configuration, and testing within their area of responsibility. • Interacts with the user community and members of the business applications support group on a daily basis.• Reports and provides project status reports.• Administers, maintains, develops and implements policies and procedures for ensuring the security and integrity of company databases.• Implements data models and database designs, data access and table maintenance codes; resolves database performance issues, database capacity issues, replication, and other distributed data issues.• Have an understanding of both UNIX system administration and Windows based systems.• The ability to write UNIX scripts.• Operational control of the database assets to include proper backup operations.• Heavy involvement in the Business Recovery processes and drills.• Cleans and maintains databases by removing and deleting or archiving old data.• Assist in the maintenance, configuration, and recommendation of computer equipment needed to support the databases.• May perform a variety of other information technology related tasks.Essential Skills:Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field and 4 years related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience. The successful candidate must have a detailed knowledge of the design, configuration, use, and capabilities of database solutions. This position must be able to reason and work well in high stress environments; able and willing to travel to support company business and participate in continuing education.
