Database Support Consultant with lifescience application experience

Aetea Information Technology is looking for a Database Support consultant, with life science application experience, to work on-site at one of our prestigious pharmaceutical clients in the Rahway, NJ area. 

 

The candidate will be responsible for customizing and supporting systems that collect, analyze, store and allow the querying and mining of drug discovery data. This position requires the ability to work with other members of the Drug Discovery Project Support group and the Basic Research scientific community to capture requirements and needs, and configure computer applications and tools to aid the drug discovery process.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

(1) registration of new or modified assay protocols  in the DLC database;

(2) provision of data capture and analysis applications;

(3) provision and maintenance of project query tools; Ensures  appropriate query tools are available for the project.  (Currently, this involves creating Project specific browser in Chemcart) 

 

This task involves on-going meetings with the project team to insure that their change requirements for querying, browsing and report generation are being met.

• Provide training and day-to-day assistance to scientists as it relates to the utilization of all data management tools

• Responsible for the resolution of problems of day-to-day issues by individual effort.

 

REQUIRED BACKGROUND:Highly desired- a B.S in BiologyMinimum 2 years experience in IT or an IT support role. Experience with Oracle databases/SQLDesired: Experience with life science applications in pharmaceutical industry (e.g. ISIS, ChemCart, Spotfire)Customer service experienceExcellent verbal and oral communicationOutstanding problem-solving skillsMust be flexible, and have excellent organizational skills
