Position Summary:
This position offers the ability to work with our dynamic IT group to perform engineering, administrative and operational functions on the Windows Desktop Image and imaging process in use at Barr Laboratories, Inc. This is an excellent opportunity for a success driven IT professional with in depth knowledge of Microsoft Windows Server and Desktop Platforms, experience with imaging processes and tools and experience with software packaging technologies to join a fast paced, rapidly growing organization.
Responsibilities include:Maintain and upgrade the internal imaging process for desktops and notebook PC?s. Propose and implement enhancements that will improve the reliability and performance of the image and the imaging processes. Provide preliminary testing, documentation, and 3rd level support for desktop core build. Create standards and templates for Desktop related methodologies. Maintenance of a standard desktop build for global use. Creation of automated tools for use in repetitive tasks. Monitor and report on process usage and performance. Train field personnel on process usage. Manage requests on ticketing system. Provide on-site and off-site support. Participate in off-hours on-call rotation. Manage multiple tasks as well as service requests and incident resolution. Be knowledgeable about Barr SOPs, and operate within the guidelines, helping maintain compliance. Produce and maintain documentation of all proceduresPosition Requirements include: Minimum three years experience and in depth knowledge of Microsoft Windows Server and Desktop Platforms. Minimum three years experience with imaging processes and tools (MS Business Desktop Deployment, SYSPREP, Altiris RDeploy) Minimum three years experience with software packaging technologies such as Wise for Windows Installer, MSI, WinINSTALL, Softricity. B.S. Degree in a technical discipline preferred Professional Certifications preferred In-depth knowledge and understanding of Desktop Operating system inner workings (File System, Registry, Services, Drivers, etc) Strong experience and understanding of Active Directory Strong troubleshooting skills. Strong knowledge of scripting and automation tools (VBScript, DOS batch scripting, WMI, WinBatch, Perl) Experience with Altiris CMS and AMS Experience with Windows 2000/2003 Servers a plus.Experience with Microsoft Solutions Framework and/or Rational Unified Process a plus. Ability to communicate with management in a professional and articulate manner. Ability to mentor peers, train colleagues. Scope, plan and prioritize milestones and tasks for multiple simultaneous projects. Deliver these projects on-time and on-budget. Ability to diagnose, troubleshoot and recommend solutions. Proactively identify gaps in and propose solutions. Responsible for desktop image engineering roles as they pertain to the overall business goals of the company and for maintaining world-class service levels and systems availability.
