Dictionary Specialist (Coder)

JOB SUMMARY -

Be responsible for review, maintenance and performance of coding practices. Working to departmental SOPs, guidelines and global standards, maintain coding integrity and ensure consistency across all projects as appropriate.

 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES -

1.   Be familiar with, and/or have experience and understanding of all tasks and responsibilities associated with CDA II.

 

2. Review client specific coding systems and guidelines.  Prepare and perform Medical Coding of CRF data (e.g. adverse events, medication, medical history, surgical history) according to commercial and/or study specific dictionaries.  Assign codes to items requiring coding.

 

3.   Provide coding support and assist CDM Managers in daily coding operations. Respond to and solve coding oriented problems in a timely manner, as appropriate for the position.  Assist CDM Manager with status reports and listings as necessary.

 

4.  Identify issues in data requiring coding to CDAs for potential query generation.

 

5.  Review coding reports for completeness, accuracy, and consistency.  Identify coding changes and perform as necessary.

 

6.  Be aware of project timelines and complete coding tasks per timelines.

 

TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE

RN (preferred) or Life Science Bachelor Degree.

1-2yrs plus Clinical Data Management experience.

MedDRA and WHO Drug experience preferred.
