GENERAL PURPOSE AND SCOPE: To lead all financial analysis activities and direct a staff responsible for business unit decision support activities within Global Central Labs. This includes, but is not limited to the publication and communication of financial results, the coordination and communication of requests for capital, and the semiannual process for unit budgeting and forecasting. The combined annual revenue of business units supported budgeted at $430 million. ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES : Coordinates publication and communication of internal management financial information to Senior Staff and key operating department users and decision makers in an efficient and timely manner to facilitate decision-making Analyzes and interprets financial statements for the guidance of Senior Management.  Directs staff responsible for partnering with business units, support groups, and SG&A departments who are responsible examining financial performance, investigating opportunities for profit enhancement and recommending actions that promote improved financial results.  Interacts regularly with key operational and support group leaders to understand business drivers and needs and to ensure that staff are focused on key value add activities for their internal customers. Reviews key project accounting results and interacts with Operational unit leaders to understand results and improve operating performance.  Works with business unit leaders to understand and identify key financial and non-financial business performance metrics. Works with leaders to track, monitor, and report unit performance vs. those metrics.  Prepares and monitors financial forecasts and budgets based on current and proposed business plans and alerts management to potential concerns and/or opportunities for improvement. Directs efforts associated with the preparation and presentation of semiannual budgets and business plans. Coordinates budget timelines and submissions as well as internal and external meetings to review and discuss forecasts.  Responsible for preparation of strategic forecasts and long term business plans for key operating groups within Global CCLS. Explores and evaluates key growth initiatives for Global CCLS, including potential acquisitions and preparation and presentation of requests for capital in support of financial and operational growth. Responsible for monthly review of capital expenditures, including coordination of periodic reviews of major projects with staff and project managers, and for post project analysis of key historic project spending. Fosters a signature client service focus in the performance of all business unit decision support activities to ensure the adequacy and timeliness of information provided, and to maintain positive relationships with all internal and external constituents. Acts as stakeholder for Financial Systems Architecture development and implementation. OTHER JOB DUTIES: Performs other duties and provides assistance to the VP Finance and Corporate as needed. MINIMUM EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILLS/REQUIRED LICENSES OR CERTIFICATIONS:  Business degree plus professional certification (CMA, CPA) or Masters degree required  10-15 years of related work experience and progressive responsibility  Experience in manufacturing and pharmaceutical industries  Proven leadership and consensus-building skills Proven planning and organizational abilities Strong written and verbal communication skills At Covance, we help make the miracles of medicine a reality.
