Director/Associate Director/Senior Scientist—Hybridoma and Screening Group

 

The successful candidate will head a group responsible for generation and primary screening of monoclonal antibodies.  This scientist will oversee immunization, hybridoma generation, cloning and banking and initial monoclonal antibody screening.  This individual will be responsible for generating and meeting aggressive monoclonal production timelines and technology development to enhance in-house monoclonal antibody production and testing.  The hybridoma group leader will play a key role in coordination of upstream external work with local animal facilities, and downstream work with internal bioassay, molecular biology and therapeutic discovery teams.

 

Job requirements

 

The qualified candidate will have a PhD, preferably in immunology, and a minimum of 7 years of work experience in molecular and cellular immunology with at least 4 years in a biotech or pharmaceutical research environment.  Candidate must have demonstrated expertise in design and implementation of monoclonal antibody generation and characterization strategies, with in-depth experience in primary antibody screening.  A strong background and hands-on experience with animal immunizations, hybridoma cell culture, antibody purification and characterization of antibodies using methods such as ELISA or other multiplexing platforms is required.  Experience in leading the implementation of state-of-the-art technologies in screening is a major plus.  Additional experience with flow cytometry, cell-based immunological assays and the use of high throughput automation systems is preferred.  Strong managerial and organizational skills along with excellent verbal and written communication are required.  An ability to function well in a collaborative matrix environment is essential.
