Novartis is currently seeking a Director of Business Continuity and Emergency Management. The focus of this global role centers on establishing, supporting implementation, and maintaining a business related, global research framework for emergency and business continuity management to assure compliance with Novartis requirements. This function provides expertise and consultation to global and site management to ensure preparedness and safeguard the interests of key stakeholders, reputation, and value creating activities from potential damaging disruptions. The primary responsibilites of this role include, but are not limited to the following: Develop and maintain guidelines, support documents and trainings to ensure an efficient, effective, and integrated world-wide organization for emergency management and business resumption. Support line management and BCM responsible individuals in elaboration and implementation of BC measures and plans including conducting risk assessments, business impact analyses, and development of BC strategies. Define requirements and oversee performance and crisis readiness and sets the direction of corrective and improvement programs. Consolidate business continuity and emergency management risks into a business risk portfolio and verifies that mitigation strategies are planned and implemented. Establish and maintain an organizational structure, systems, tools, and appropriate networks to ensure consistent implementation and transfer of know-how and best practices. Drive continuous improvement of systems and processes. This position will require 30-35% global travel.QualificationsThe ideal candidate will have at a minimum a BS in a science or technical(e.g. chemistry, biology, pharmacy) or related field and at least 3-5 years of business continuity experience. Work in a research environment a plus. Criteria by which select candidates will be chosen include the following:" Experience in, or a strong working knowledge, of project management." Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills." Strong interpersonal,and indirect influencing skills with a demonstrated ability to gain the confidence of individuals at various organizational levels." Demonstrated ability to drive results and manage competing interests.
