Currently, we have a great opportunity for a capable, motivated, and team-oriented Director/Senior Director to help our group develop and deploy important Business Process Development capabilities.

Specifically, you will:

• Identify and drive improvements in strategic initiative areas through the effective use of business process improvement methodologies and change management tools
• Coach / train and mentor employees and business leaders in process improvement and problem-solving principles
• Assist / support in the championing of business-wide operational excellence deployment, driving the achievement of business objectives / financial success at Amylin
• Stimulate / influence management strategies by tactfully challenging conventional wisdom through practical demonstration of business process improvement methodologies (e.g., project reviews, data-driven decisions, project prioritization, and project management)
• Work closely with senior leadership to initiate and execute improvements across all business operations
• Initiate and manage the execution of multi-million dollar initiatives, programs and new systems to achieve agreed-upon results
• Use knowledge and experience with proven principles, practices, processes, and technology to create and sell innovative ideas to senior executive team
• Support recruiting and development of a small group of employees who will assist in managing business process development projects across the company
• Contribute to other division and company objectives as deemed necessary
• Ensure adherence to Amylin policies, and compliance with GXP and other regulations
• Collaborate with counterparts at Amylin manufacturing facilities in developing and implementing consistent approaches in process improvement and operational excellence

This position requires:

• A BA/BS (preferably in systems engineering, management sciences or a related field). Preference will be given to candidates with an advanced degree (Ph.D., M.S. or M.B.A.)
• 10-15 years relevant experience with a minimum of 8 years prior business process design experience and/or project management experience in a business process engineering environment
• Business process engineering certification is desired, but is not required if the candidate can demonstrate thorough practical knowledge
• A proven track record of successfully developing and executing business process design and improvement projects with tangible measures of value / benefit through the application of process engineering tools and methodologies in a broad business environment
• Experience in business process development in various areas of business (manufacturing, commercial operations, quality, R&D, finance, legal, human resources), preferably in organizations focused on innovation and product leadership
• Strong project management, business consultation and negotiation skills
• The ability to coach, train and build a strong, successful team
• Adaptability, flexibility and high performance in a team-based, collaborative environment
• The ability to guide successful implementations across the range of involved stakeholders (i.e., people skills and leadership skills are equally important to analytical capabilities)
• The ability to manage significant change processes
• Excellent analytical and written/verbal communication skills
• The ability to understand and create an understanding of complex information, concepts and theories among a variety of stakeholders and business partners
• Lean/Six Sigma experience highly desirable.
