Director, Clinical Development - Internal Medicine - (Job Number: 0806079) DescriptionOrtho-McNeil Janssen Scientific Affairs, L.L.C. is currently recruiting for a Director, Clinical Development - Internal Medicine, based in Raritan, NJ. Ortho-McNeil Janssen Scientific Affairs, L.L.C. is dedicated to providing medical information and consultative support to a number of J&J's pharmaceutical companies. The company's mission is to create the pre-eminent model of scientific excellence in the promotion of public health. The Medical Director responsibilities will include traditional medical affairs duties such as key opinion leader development, initiating new studies, representative training ad promotional review. The Medical Director will interact with PRD personnel, as well as numerous cross-functional groups including PGSM and "act as a strategist to the brand teams." The Medical Director will work closely with his/her supervisor on Doribax, our recently launched new carbepenem antibiotic, and Ceftobiprole, our new broad-spectrum cephalosporin with MRSA activity expected to be launched 2008. A minimum of an MD degree with Internal Medicine Board Certification is required. Infectious Disease training or experience is an asset. A minimum of 1 or more years of pharmaceutical industry experience is also required. Other competencies include: The candidate should have expertise managing phase II-IV clinical development (preferably in anti-infectives) activities at a large pharmaceutical company, and have a track record of proactive decision-making. The candidate should have excellent communication skills, and be committed to collaboration and teamwork. The candidate must understand the various internal and external customer needs and be able to clearly communicate potentially complex medical information in order to engage his/her internal constituents to bring value to the issues being raised. Leadership experience is a plus. Must be able to travel up to 20% domestically.
