The Director, Clinical Research will design and monitor clinical trial programs; supervise Clinical Research Managers/ Clinical Research Team Directors to ensure that clinical trials of those products determined to satisfy medical need and/or offer commercial potential are conducted; supervise and coordinate with other team members to oversee data collection and analysis; design and monitor phase I, II, III clinical trials within the company as required by project; participate in the development of the clinical strategy and design; work with others as a team player to successfully achieve strategy. (must be cooperative and work well with all functional groups), participate in the selection of clinical sites; develop collaboration with outside clinical investigators, basic scientists and opinion leaders; be responsible for communicating business related issues or opportunities to next management level; be responsible for ensuring personal and company compliance with all Federal, State, local and company regulations, policies and procedures for Health, Safety and Environmental compliance; be responsible for ensuring that subordinates follow all company guidelines related to Health, Safety and Environmental practices; be responsible for providing performance feedback to direct reports as well as coaching and assistance in their development; and assist in the identification and management of departmental project and personnel issues. A minimum of a Bachelors degree is required. At least 5 years of Clinical Research experience is required. Experience and/or knowledge of the management of the clinical research processes for device or drug trials leading to a PMA/NDA is critical. Thorough understanding of clinical trial design, statistics and regulatory processes is desired. Academic and/or industrial experience is acceptable if the individual has clinical trial and FDA experience. Management experience also required, including management of direct reports as well as management of contract research organizations. Leadership skills in the area of clinical research, characterized by results and specific achievements. Excellent written and oral English communication skills. Prior direct involvement with the FDA is desirable. Strongly goal-oriented and highly motivated with a high energy level.
