We are looking for a Global Network Services Leader who will manage the Network Services group that is responsible for day to day operations of the Global Wide Area Network, Local Area Network, Voice Support, Remote Access Services, and Network perimeter security. The leader will manage a team of 12-15 professionals providing advanced network design, support, technical staff, Vendor/Carrier partnering for monitoring, breakfix and teaming with the Process improvement team to improve availability, stability, capacity and performance planning. Proven project experience in consolidating data centers and completing complex network projects to support transformations is required as this role will work closely with the Design and Build functions. Candidate must have at least 8 years of progressive management/leadership experience with at least 4 years of global network leadership experience to be considered. College degree required and advanced degree preferred. Solid experience in supporting design and build functions and presenting business cases for approval to executives required. Experience within life sciences industry is also a strong plus. Responsibilities: • Responsible for monitoring utilization levels and trends throughout Covance to determine quality of service of both voice and data communications. • Formulates, evaluates and reviews long range networks plans to improve quality of service, cost reduction and support consolidation efforts. Strong technical skill set and knowledge of networking protocols, routing, firewalls, switching, security operations systems such as IDS, IPS, Vulnerability and other type detection systems. • Manage a team of administrators and/or 3rd party vendors in maintaining and enhancing our WAN Infrastructure, Voice Systems, LAN and security operations. • Evaluates and proposes remote access strategies and solutions. • Ensure our numerous phone systems are supported and are fully functional. Support Call Center environments telephony and reporting. (Traditional and VOIP) • Manage technical aspects of hardware acquisition and refresh with procurement and finance teams to gain timely approvals. • Monitor and ensure compliance of infrastructure issues in a Sarbanes-Oxley environment. Support resolution of audit issues and proactive security operations. • Leverage industry best practices in Service Management; promote a quality customer support and service culture. ITIL certification a strong plus. Experience working within or with a NOC is preferred. • Responsible for building and growing a talented team. Ability to team with other IT departments and maintain effective relationships with business and IT peers and staff. • Create, track and report Operations key performance metrics and benchmarking. • Assist in the preparation of capital and expense budgets, manage to those budgets. • Assist in the design, implementation and maintenance of effective voice and data networks which impact clients and business areas throughout Covance. • Support Disaster Recovery and Failover networks. • Perform other tasks as assigned by management. • Evening and weekend work on as-needed basis for system outages. Travel: • Some US and International travel Experience Required: • 10-15 years industry experience. • Minimum 4 years experience in a similar role. • Broad technical knowledge and experience in infrastructure technologies including WAN, Email, Phone systems and Internet related systems. • Demonstrated ability to manage in a changing environment, while maintaining services and improving reliability of our infrastructure. • Strong organization skills, including the ability to plan and execute to a budget, coordinate projects within a broad enterprise, and to plan for, deal with and reduce system failures. • Experience in negotiating and managing vendor contracts. • Experience with a highly regulated environment a plus. • Experience in architecting, building and managing high availability infrastructures, managing multiple geographically distributed sites preferred.
