Director or Senior Director of Competitive Intelligence: My client, a growing, global biopharma company in Cambridge, MA is focused on the discovery, development and commercialization of breakthrough drugs for a range of serious diseases. TITLE: Director OR Senior Director of Competitive IntelligenceREPORTS TO:Vice President of Customers & MarketsSALARY RANGE: Director level - up to $190k base, plus bonus (can earn up to 120% of your target bonus), restricted stock and stock options Senior Director level - up to $215k+ base, plus bonus (can earn up to 120% of your target bonus), restricted stock and stock optionsRELO: Full relocation benefits available for this position RESPONSIBILITIES: The Director of Competitive Intelligence will actively participate in supporting the commercial planning efforts by providing objective, in-depth information about current and future markets and competitive forces. Additionally, he or she will work with a cross functional team (including Marketing, Portfolio Management, Clinical, Research, Regulatory, Business Development) to identify and answer critical competitive business questions, innovatively analyze competitive information, and communicate the insights and findings to the organization. The Director of CI will report directly to the VP of Customers & Markets, and will have analytical support. Act as a competitive intelligence (CI) and knowledge specialist aligned with multiple departments, teams, and senior management Develop pre-defined standards to ensure legal and ethical approaches to CI, protecting business interests and confidentiality Develop and implement company-wide training programs to establish CI best practices Maintain ongoing CI monitoring and communication, conducting special CI initiatives as needed Collaborate with Marketing, Clinical and other departments to leverage key insights and maintain competitive edge Proactively plan CI opportunity and risk, SWOT, war gaming, pre-launch planning and other strategic analyses at various stages of the product life-cycle Drive and implement communication, presentation and facilitation processes to build relationships and establish ongoing knowledge base within core, brand and franchise cross-functional teams and senior leadership Ensure a high level of current awareness of developments in the relevant scientific and commercial world through the creation and distribution of appropriate alerts Assist in providing and maintaining access to electronic databases, eBooks, eJournals and other sources of electronic knowledge of value Build and maintain competitor and technology landscapes Identify, evaluate and implement new information technologies, information sources and analysis software Work with other members of the organization in gathering primary intelligence at external meetings REQUIREMENTS: BS degree in a scientific or business discipline. Advanced degree in business or science strongly preferred 8+ years experience working in an information research, market analysis or management consulting role in a healthcare related industry Broad knowledge and experience with the information technology used for searching, delivering and sharing of information and intelligence Excellent search and research skills, including experience with the use of online databases (scientific, business, patent, etc) and the Internet Direct supervisory experience as well as a history of success working with cross-functional teams In depth understanding of drug development, commercialization and lifecycle management. Experience in following therapeutic areas a plus: oncology, immunology, inflammation, viral Excellent oral and written communication skills Strong relationship management and influencing skills Experience with building competitor and or technology profiles Ability to innovatively and proactively seek out relevant information Experience with managing information projects and meeting deadlines Experience using visualization, text mining and/or other competitive analysis techniques Creative thinker Ability to engage others and capture people's attention; ability to be a "catalyst" when needed Entrepreneurial mentality Does this sound like the exciting opportunity you have been looking for?
