Director, Theranostics

As a leading-edge global supplier of reagents and instrumentation to anatomical pathology laboratories for the detection of cancers and infectious diseases, Leica Microsystems’ Biosystems Division is advancing the science of pathology. Our latest integrated system is the powerful and innovative Oracle™, a new theranostics product portfolio that integrates the world class Novocastra™ reagents renowned for their sensitivity, specificity and consistency with the revolutionary Bond™ Automated Staining System that delivers exceptional immunohistochemistry (IHC) and in situ hybridization (ISH) results. Together with our pharmaceutical and biotech partners, we are actively developing next generation theranostic tests that herald a new era in cancer diagnostics and therapeutics.

Due to new growth and expansion this role has been created for the purpose of driving and managing the development of the Oracle Theranostics portfolio. The key aspects of the role include:

 

§  Responsibility for providing the strategic direction for the Theranostics portfolio;

§  Providing leadership and guidance to multidisciplinary project teams in the development of theranostic products as well as implementation of strategic alliances and business collaborations;

§  Responsibility for managing the identification, development, and negotiation of strategic partnerships and alliance opportunities that lead to novel products for the Theranostics group; 

§  Responsibility for management of the market analysis of opportunities in order to make recommendations for new Theranostic projects;

§  Responsibility for assuring Theranostic devices meet technical performance criteria and  adheres to guidelines of relevant governmental agencies;

§  Determining project financial viability and planning of business development strategy

§  Leading and facilitating the development of new core competencies which gives the company a competitive advantage in the Theranostics area; and  

§  Monitoring the impact of the business development strategy on the overall company objectives.

 

To qualify for this challenging opportunity you will possess:

 

§  A tertiary degree in a relevant Life Science / Business discipline; PhD in life science or MBA strongly preferred

§  At least two years experience in diagnostic devices and/or drug development, preferably in histopathology or pharma drug development;

§ A working knowledge of the drug discovery/development process as it relates to theranostics;

§ A strong track record in licensing and partnering deals with US pharma/biotech;

§ An extensive network of relationships with the major players within the US biopharmaceutical market;

§ An aptitude for capturing market trends and requirements within this rapidly emerging area;

§ A strategic and innovative thinking style and approach.

 

In addition, you are extremely self motivated with a results oriented approach, and have strong commercial, negotiation and presentation skills.
