Director of Diversity and Business Development
Position: Director, Business Development and Diversity
Report To: Chief Marketing Officer
Purpose:
To expand BTC’s blood donor base to reflect the ethnic diversity of the communities it serves. To create business development strategies that maximize BTC’s services to existing and new accounts.
Responsibilities:
Diversity Program:
· Develop programs and direct the recruitment of ethnically diverse people in communities served by the BTC.
· Forecast and achieve monthly goals for diverse populations.
· Build relationships at the leadership level of diverse communities and organizations that lead to increased blood donation from those communities.
· Develop and make presentations to organizations and groups in diverse communities.
· Work closely with Operations management and Human Resources to assure resources are available within the BTC to fully serve diverse populations.
Business Development:
· Identify, develop and execute new business strategies for the core competencies of the Blood and Tissue Center.
· Develop and implement tactical marketing plans to support all business strategies in conjunction with the overall marketing strategy.
· Lead contract negotiations for assigned accounts and manage implementation in conjunction with other functions.
· Contributes to marketing efforts by communicating client preferences and feedback to the Marketing Department.
· Participates in the formulation of the overall marketing strategy.
Skills, Education, & Experience:Ability to communicate effectively, both internally and externally, to all types of audiences including scientific audiences.College degree required with degree in relevant discipline. 5+ years of strategy development and sales experience in a life science industry.Excellent leadership skills required.Must be bilingual (Spanish).Ability to self-start, organize and prioritize under changing conditions, manage multiple projects, and handle stressful situations.Must have sold directly to pharmaceutical and/or biotechnology accounts.Demonstrated negotiation ability.Excellent customer service skills.Estimated travel 10 to 25%.
Physical/Mental Abilities:
· Must be able to make sound judgments
· Must be able to assimilate information and draw reasonable conclusions
· Must be able to multitask
· Able to work flexible hours including holidays and weekends.
· Must be at least 21 years old, have a valid TX driver’s license and proof of liability insurance as well as a copy of a current and acceptable driving record.
