Director of In-vivo Pharmacology

This position will establish a dedicated oncology and/or immunology pharmacology function within Pharmacology and Preclinical Development Group. The Director will design, implement and coordinate preclinical Pharmacology and IND/NDA enabling studies.

Working with outside CROs and internal key contributors, the incumbent will guide the selection of drug candidates from discovery pipeline for clinical oncology indications using state-of-the-industry models and techniques. Through the effective and creative use of research models, the candidate will be an active contributor to our drug discovery and development project teams.

The incumbent will also be responsible for the preparation of documents to be submitted to regulatory agencies. In addition, the selected individual will work closely with scientists from allied disciplines, and act as a project team resource in their discipline; assure the delivery of high quality results and reports in a timely manner consistent with project team/company objectives.

Responsibilities Design and execute in vivo pharmacology studies to determine potential mechanism of action and therapeutic rationale for oncology drug candidates Establishing and validating animal models of cancer Identify appropriate CRO for study execution and manage all aspects of data analysis and reporting Coordination of internal support including any additional bioanalytical or in vitro assays Maintain expenditures to within pre-specified budget Writing study reports and communicating study results both within and outside the company The candidate will be responsible for multiple tasks or projects and will collaborate with other scientists across a range of disciplines The candidate must be a Team Player and be able to work with key contributors within Discovery Research

Qualifications

Required Ph.D. with 5-8 years of relevant pharmaceutical industry experience Experience in working with CRO's on Pharmacology and Toxicology studies is required.

Desired Experience with biotechnology products including proteins and antibodies A good understanding of Pharmacology, Pharmacokinetics and principles or toxicology is important. Experience of preclinical studies with biologics and familiarity with bioanalytical methods is preferred.
