Director of Laboratory Operations

Manage processing and banking operations for cord blood laboratory. Provide input and direction during construction of new lab. Manage IQ, OQ of equipment and process validations in preparation for State inspection. Responsible for the development and maintenance of SOPs, general lab protocols, and for ensuring the technical training and competency development of technicians in the stem cell laboratory. Oversees staff in performing duties relating to the receiving,processing, confirmatory testing, storage, and subsequent release of cord blood products. Responsible to prepare lab operations to successfully pass inspection for State of California Biologics License, AABB, ISO, CLIA and other.

Technical Skills, Certifications Required

  MT or Doctoral  equivalence (preferred) in biology, medicine, pathology, American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) . California CLS   Previous experience in managing or stem cell lab. Experience with AABB & FACT standards for cell therapies.   Minimum of two years laboratory experience, of which two years to include stem cell management experience in blood components, stem cell and cord blood desirable.   Knowledge of evaluation methodologies, data analysis, i.e., statistics, QC/proficiency testing, management skill, and related software package. Demonstrated communication skills necessary to interact with all levels of hospital staff.

Hands on approach in early phase of business launch.
