Electrical Engineer - (Analog/Digital/ECG)

Senior Vitals Inc. (SVI) is an early stage company headquartered in Northern Virginia.  SVI is developing short distance wireless sensor networks with wireless gateways to public networks, for applications in the commercial and consumer marketplace.  SVI is looking for an Engineer with the background in the Electrical/Computer/Biomedical Engineering to contribute to the product and system design efforts.

 

Position ResponsibilitiesDesign and develop new sensing products.  Primary focus will be on analogue/ digital ECG front end designs (i.e. ECG acquisition) including sensor signal acquisition, filtering, A/D, D/A, protection circuitry, isolation circuitryInnovate new methodologies for acquiring ECG and other analogue signals from the human bodyModel complex analogue circuits using various simulation toolsBuild prototypes and prove design feasibility, functionality and performance improvement over existing solutionsProvide technical solutions as well as project scheduling and project trackingDrive documentation of all phases of the design including requirements, specifications, plans, reviews, test procedures and test reportsInvestigate and determine root cause of product issues found in manufacturing, troubleshoot systems, PCBs, cables and firmware.  Use test equipment to analyse and resolve issues Work with cross functional teams including: Mechanical Engineering., Software Engineering, Clinical Applications, Marketing, Support Engineering, Quality and Regulatory, Operations and Supply Chain.  Teams are relatively small and members hold many development rolesDocument the design for manufacturing (i.e. drawings, schematics, experiments, changes, test results, data, PCB layout, etc.)Verify and validate designsInterface with vendors and third-party providers

 

Candidate ProfileMSEE or equivalent degree7+ years experience in electrical/computer/biomedical engineeringAbility to work on abstract problems with limited directionDemonstrated success in analogue/digital front ends and sensor signal acquisition is a must, preferably ECG front end design experience.Digital design and digital signal processing experience preferredUnderstanding of design concepts, embedded microprocessor design, FPGA design, high speed digital circuits, board layout and firmware developmentDemonstrated competence in methodical and effective troubleshooting, along with excellent problem solving skills (root cause analysis).Ability to document complex designs including: system requirements, theory of operation, schematics, interconnect diagrams, test procedures, test reports, risk analysis and failure analysis.Demonstrated success in taking designs from concept to production.Solid working knowledge of electromagnetic interference (EMI) reduction techniques.Solid experience working with suppliers to resolve technical issues
Excellent written and verbal English skills.Solid experience with project management tools such as MS projectSchematic capture and PCB layout, as well as simulation tools experience a plusExperience with FDA/IEC (IEC 60601-1 Safety standard) regulated medical devices is a plus, as well as experience with Class III medical devicesExperience in a manufacturing environment a plus.ASIC development experience a definite plusKnowledge of embedded and wireless systems
