Electro-Optic Technician / Product Development

Luna Innovations, a NASDAQ-listed public company, is seeking an Electro-Optic Technician to be part of a multidisciplinary team and provide technical support in the development of novel fiber-optic sensor products. This key technical position will be responsible for designing and implementing test plans and performing applied research and product development functions in support of advanced fiber-optic systems.

Position is cross-functional and multi-discipline to support product engineering and manufacturing teams in the areas of fiber optics and electronics. Responsibilities include the assembly of fiber optic networks and electronics circuit boards to be used for engineering prototypes and systems produced in a manufacturing environment. Successful candidate will be a motivated, organized, eager-to-learn individual with solid communication skills and good attention to detail.  Computer literacy with solid documentation skills is highly desired.  Experience in soldering surface-mount components is required along with solid troubleshooting and problem solving skills.  Successful candidate will have experience in the construction of optical networks including cleaving, splicing, connectorization and polishing.  Familiarity with fiber optic sensors and the properties of optical fiber is a major plus.  Experience working in a structured manufacturing environment is highly desired.

 

High school diploma or equivalent with 2+ years of related experience required.  Associates degree in engineering related field is a plus.
