ELECTRONIC SYSTEM ENGINEER
Luminous Medical, a new venture-funded medical device company located in Carlsbad, California is currently seeking an experienced Electronic System Engineer. Our mission is to develop a new critical care monitor that addresses the rapidly growing clinical demand for tight glycemic control in the operating room, intensive care unit, and hospital ward.
POSITION SUMMARY
This is a mid-level electronics engineering position that will work on of a cross-funtional team to develop and commercialize complex medical device products.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES/ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Assists in the development, review of the product requirements, specifications and schedules. Participates with a team to advance designs from concept to production. Designs and implements new embedded hardware architectures according to approved specifications. Contributes technical skills and knowledge towards design of electronic circuits and systems. Leads and participates in technical design reviews. Performs troubleshooting and debugging of designs, and other integration activities, in conjunction with technicians and other cross-functional team members. Works with the development team on scheduling, improvements, and resolving design issues. Evaluates and recommends design changes and specifications when necessary. Completes formal verification activities from protocol development, through testing and release of Design Verification Test Report. Maintains detailed documentation throughout all phases of design development, including verification activities from protocol development, through testing and release of Design Verification Test Report. Works with Product Engineering, Operations (Mfg) and product support teams to launch products and maintain field efficacy. Requires close interaction and participation within and among teams including software and hardware developers, R & D Engineers, Marketing, RA/QA, and Operations. Preserves a safe and healthy working environment by maintaining acute safety awareness and participating in safety programs. Ensure duties are performed in a safe manner, which complies with applicable local, state, and federal laws/requirements as well as corporate goals. Preserves a quality culture by using quality tools and principals in all projects. May perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
CBSEE degree or equivalent, plus 6-8 years of experience. Closely involved, practical hardware design experience with microcontrollers, PLDs, FPGAs, and standard data communication interface devices and protocols. Some analog electronics design experience. Demonstrates a history of excellent and effective problem solving and troubleshooting skills. Ability to multi-task and work in a team environment. Must be a quick learner and have good oral and written communication skills. Experience in medical device design, design control for FDA compliance, knowledge of advanced EMC and ESD design techniques, and experience in a start-up environment preferred. Experience in motors/motor drive electronics and drive controls a plus.
Medical device experience highly preferred (other regulated industries considered).
