Job Title Facilities Space PlannerCompensation Salary commensurate with qualifications and experience.Organization Illumina, Inc.Location San DiegoDepartment Name Facilities OperationsWork Days Monday-FridayShift DaysShift Length 8 HoursJob Summary Under the general direction of the Facilities Project Manager, the incumbent will assist in planning studies, analyses of existing space use, development of options for facility renovations, facilities renovation planning, infrastructure planning, space efficiencies and the preparation of Project Planning Guides, which are documents used to justify and explain physical projects; will assist in the collection, analysis, organization and presentation of information and data obtained from professional staff, other administration and operations groups and consultants; this position relates to Campus Planning department leadership and faculty, providing reports and presentations on proposed projects and policies; and perform other duties as assigned.Qualifications B.A. or equivalent in planning, engineering, architecture or related field, and three years of experience in administrative analysis or operations research; or least eight years of related experience in lieu of degree; highly organized and detailed-oriented, with superior data analysis/synthesis skills, both quantitative and qualitative; thorough and descriptive documentation skills; ability to clearly display and report text and data; and communicate technical concepts to non-technical users; good design, research, writing and verbal communication skills; high level of technical competence and diplomacy essential; knowledge of architectural, planning, and construction terminology; extensive experience with Windows-based applications especially spreadsheet and database management programs, such as Excel, Word, Access, and CAD. Ability to collect, compile and analyze a variety of data, identifies space needs and efficiencies, and adapt and match program needs to space available. Conducts research on space-related issues, analyzes situations accurately and develops corrective solutions in the selection of alternate approaches to space utilization. Projects space needs based on organization growth and changes. Calculates space and related requirements using mathematical and programmatic formula to optimize space available.
