Position Description:

Description:The Field Applications Scientist is the primary technical field contact for Illumina customers. The Application Scientist will be responsible for supporting a major genome center by providing technical, logistical, and troubleshooting support. The territory would cover Boston.Job duties include but are not limited to:• Supporting a high-throughput microarray lab in terms of automation, LIMS, workflow, and data analysis.• Troubleshooting issues related to both existing and new applications and providing feedback to R&D, marketing, and product development teams.• Provide support and training to the field applications group regarding new applications and technologies related to next-gen sequencing• Helping to maintain and build upon collaborative relationship with a key account• Acting as a key contributor of customer feedback to marketing, R&D, and product development teams.• Developing and improving key company processes that support our mission of building a world-class customer support organization.Qualifications:• Ph.D. in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology or Genetics required, OR M.S. + 3 years experience • 3-5 years biotech experience preferred • Demonstrated experience with high-throughput genotyping preferred• Knowledge of automation and LIMS systems• Strong math background and experience with data analysis• Outstanding problem solving and interpersonal skills • Demonstrated written and verbal communication and training skills • Clear vision of and commitment to providing outstanding customer service
