Job Description Field Technical Specialist, Microplate Instrumentation NE Region Position Summary:This position is responsible for driving sales to ensure that the region exceeds it’s targeted quarterly and annual specialized instruments sales objectives by providing field technical and sales support within an assigned geographic region to, focusing on key accounts and key areas as agreed with regional sales.  The Field Technical Specialist support duties will be oriented to the division products requiring highly technical demonstrations performed within the customer’s laboratory.  The product demonstration objective will be to effectively match our product capabilities to the clients needs and then, in joint cooperation with our local sales or distributor representative, remove all competitive obstacles to solidify an order for Thermo.  The Field Technical Specialist will then be responsible for all logistics associated with completing a successful final product installation and customer training.  Key Responsibilities:  Manage key sales opportunities in territory, drive sale using distribution channels and support where appropriate.  Territory management, focus on key accounts and key areas to drive business directly and supporting distribution channels.  Manage full territory utilizing all distribution reps.  Ensure all distribution reps are trained to sufficient level; focus on working with reps in key accounts and key areas.  Provide field demonstration, sales and training support on current and future designated products, including but not limited to, high-end Microplate Instruments. Set up joint travel days with company and distributor field sales personnel to increase their awareness of instrument product applications and potential opportunities. Conduct technical seminars on a regular basis.  Provide field technical advice and application feasibility regarding the proper use and performance of products to regional team members.  Provide routine feedback related to technology and customers needs that would be important for new product development.  Complete after sale follow-up with the customer to ensure satisfaction with our product performance.  Coordinate service assistance as required  Primary responsibility for maintaining all MIB regional instrument demo inventory.Job Requirements:  Bachelors Degree in a Life Sciences discipline a required minimum  Experience in working in a laboratory with technical instruments required  Experience in delivering effective technical presentations to scientific researchers  Research laboratory applications experience required  Previous successful experience in developing customer relations  Strong problem solving skills  Strong desire to succeed and ability to execute on multiple tasks  Excellent interpersonal and persuasive communications abilities  High proficiency in PC software applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, CRM application)  Willingness to travel extensively to accomplish assigned objectives (60% or greater)  Valid passport  Valid drivers license Education: BachelorsJob Level: Experienced
