General Manager-North Manchester
SUMMARY
The General Manager is responsible for all business operations, via team of 40 Team Members, of the ethanol plant to include: product operations, purchasing, marketing, and personnel.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
1. Oversee all business operations, plant operations, purchasing operations, marketing operations, personnel operations, and any and all other items relating to plant operations and profitability.
2. Timely reporting of financial information and operational information to the Management Committee.
3. Maintain positive company image and relationship in city, community, county, state and nation.
4. Communicate and enforce all Team Member policies, procedures and performance standards. Oversee wage and benefit package, with changes to be approved by the Board and Broin Management.
5. Ultimately responsible for performance management of all Team Members. This may include: performance reviews, goal-setting, production goals, disciplinary action, career development, succession planning.
6. Supervises professional, technical and support staff on a day-to-day bases, including determining workloads and schedules, implementing and interpreting policies and procedures, evaluating and training staff, approving and making hiring and termination recommendations.
7. Ensure that all city, county, state and federal rules and regulations are being met. This would include but not be limited to: air quality regulations, storm water discharge regulations, BATF regulations, OSHA regulations, state fuel regulations, state feed regulations, and any and all other regulations pertaining to plant operations.
8. Observe all activities of the state and federal legislature and work diligently to retain all current incentives available to the ethanol industry. Also, work with any state or federal legislative effort that is positive to the ethanol industry.
9. Approve all plant purchases involving new items. Raw material and replacement purchases may be handled by individual departments. Sign all checks and review all invoices on a timely basis.
10. Oversee grain purchasing, ethanol marketing and distillers feed marketing departments. Ensure best pricing scenarios for all products.
11. Ensure that all raw product costs are minimized and that all finished product costs are maximized.
12. Report to Management Committee and Shareholders on a regular basis.
13. Epitomize the values of the Broin Companies daily with Team Members and the community and demonstrate acceptable level of leadership concerning deployment and implementation of all company-driving initiatives.
14. Perform any and all duties as assigned by the Regional VP of Management or Managing Partner of Broin Management.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS/COMPETENCIES
To perform the job successfully, an individual should demonstrate the following competencies to perform the essential functions of this position along with effective oral and written communication skills, and excellent interpersonal skills.
Bachelors Degree or greater in Business. Eight or more years of experience in plant operations and Team Member/performance management.
Experience in environments such as grain processing, food processing, or chemical processing beneficial.
Previous public, community, and/or Board relations experience beneficial.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
This position operates in an office environment, as well as plant environment. In the office, the Team Member will work on the computer. In the plant environment, Team Member will be required to adhere to all Safety requirements and may be exposed to noise, heat, and other elements both inside and outside. This position self-directed and requires understanding of company policy, procedures, and values.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
The Team Member must be able to periodically lift up to 50 pounds, climb steps and/or ladders up to 175 feet, and may have to work in confined spaces.
