We're part of a team that's making a difference in the quality of people's lives.Think What's Possible.Develop and implement a coordinated purchasing strategy for OTC for major spend categories (Marketing, R&D etc.)Provides strategic direction to purchasing sites globally in proposed categories.Selects suppliers in conjunction with cross-functional (and/or cross-BU) teams using the Novartis Category Management processNegotiates agreements with suppliers that will specify the quality of the goods/services received, and insures that we receive these services at competitive price levelsActs as Project Manager on High Intensity Projects, contributing to the team with the ability to diagnose problems, achieve results in short timeframes, create a sense of urgency, and develop innovative solutions towards the achievement of the teams goals.Installs processes that insure the maximum value received for the goods and services and the elimination of waste.Builds purchasing profile with senior managementInsures all spend levers (e.g. specifications, demand management, management approval processes) are reviewed and acted upon as appropriate.Ensures compliance with Novartis Purchasing policiesQualifications"University degree"Minimum 7 years experience in strategic sourcing in an international environment"Strong negotiating skills"Solid understanding of general business drivers, and concepts"Familiarity with EDP systems and tools"Project management experience"Proven people management skills"Ability to work in a matrix organization"Excellent written and verbal communication skills"Fluency in English, any additional languages an asset
