Histology Supervisor

Seeking a Histology Supervisor to ensure all work is performed as outlined in the departmental SOPs and that departmental personnel comply with all policies and procedures of the company and within the department. Performs quality control duties, maintains training records, reports monthly metrics and abides by guidelines set forth in Lean.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

PERSONNEL Schedule personnel adequately staff the department to insure the required work is completed on a daily basis Authorize overtime Check timecards at the end of each week Sign and date leave request and approval form(s) Approve hiring and termination of employees Train new personnel Complete performance reviews Direct all technical activities Direct daily workflow to meet deadlines Maintain and ensure personnel follow lab guidelines Maintain ?Teamwork? attitude and good relations among employees Maintain a clean and safe work environment Solve personnel problems Adhere to Accident and Illness Prevention Program Abide by Lean practices in promoting efficiencies within the department Attend weekly Supervisors meeting Attend National Histology Call as scheduled (bi-weekly)

HISTOLOGY SOPs Responsible for reading, understanding and following all applicable SOPs Ensure personnel follow SOPs Familiar with Safety, Hazardous Waste and Infectious Waste regulations Document and revise SOP within the department, review revisions with Quality Control Document and revise policies and procedures for biopsies under the direction of the pathology director

EQUIPMENT & MAINTENANCE Solve technical problems Ensure all maintenance is performed as outlined in maintenance SOPs Ensure all Quality Control procedures are performed Ensure all records (maintenance, temperature, quality control) are properly recorded according to SOP Maintain supplies and inventory Maintain a clean, safe work environment

TECHNICAL EXPERTISE Must have a working knowledge of, performance skills and ability to teach skills in the following areas: Gross dissection Tissue processing Embedding Microtome Frozen sections Staining Special stains Coverslipping Loadmaster Computer (PC and Antrim)

COMMUNICATION Ensure that all relevant information from management is communicated to the employees Attends all required management/employee meetings Follows standard and approved procedures of management in dealing with employees Communicates any unusual or problematic occurrences in a timely manner to lab manager.

FINANCIAL Responsible for input for the departmental budget each year Responsible for monitoring departmental financial performance Responsible for providing monthly metrics to the Lab Manager prior to monthly Business Review

ATTENDANCE Must be available to work on a consistent and routine basis 40 hours preferred

OTHER DUTIES ASSIGNED AS NEEDED

 Requirements:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION BS or High School diploma and minimum of 5 years experience HT (ASCP) and/or HTL (ASCP) license or equivalent

EXPERIENCE Previous experience in supervisory position required OR 4-6 years experience in IDEXX Histology Lab

REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES Must have visual ability to perform close up and small detail work Must have mental and/or psychological ability to deal with and interact with the average person in the general population Must be able to speak or communicate easily with others
