IP Counsel

The selected patent attorney candidate will be responsible for handling a wide range of IP-matters, including patent prosecution, as set out below, for certain segments of Invitrogen's business. In addition, the educational and technical requirements as well as the intangibles are set out below.Responsibilities: Innovation sensing Patent preparation and prosecution Product clearance and competitive IP diligence Technology acquisition diligence and support Dispute and threat resolution Identification and execution of IP-based strategic initiatives Depending on experience, may supervise others in the performance of these responsibilities Experience & Educational Requirements: Juris Doctorate and biology and/or bioengineering research experience. At least 2 years of laboratory experience in a biology or bioengineering research setting.Ideal candidate has both engineering and biology research and patent prosecution experienceTwo-seven years IP experience, ideally at a law firm practicing patent prosecution.Exceptional written and oral communication skills.Intangibles: The successful candidate will have the mix of creativity, communication, diligence, passion and team spirit required to support key areas of Invitrogen's business.
