Ethicon Endo-Surgery, Inc.- develops and markets advanced medical devices for minimally invasive and open surgical procedures. The company focuses on procedure- enabling devices for the interventional diagnosis and treatment of conditions in general and bariatric surgery, as well as gastro- intestinal health, gynecology and surgical oncology. The IT Lead will assist in the development, implementation, training & / or support of application systems, software packages, or system components. Perform day-to-day task and project planning. Analyze business processes & identifying opportunities to apply information technology. Identify, evaluate & install new technologies or processes. Adhere to quality processes & procedures. Interact with, support & train customers. KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: Develop & utilize advanced skills to provide ad hoc system analysis. Benchmark and monitor system performance. Evaluate new technologies. Install new technologies. Utilize analytical skills to gather data and define complex, large-scale business problems that require electronic data systems. Perform detail definition for specific projects or system components. Design and prototype specific projects or system components. Deploy specific projects, applications, or system components. Optimize use of operational resources to minimize expenditures of time & energy in the completion of projects. Provide periodic status reports on tasks. Identify problems & provide solutions to keep projects on target. Provide business process analysis. Develop effective working partnerships with management, peers, & customers. Provide leadership, monitor progress & coordinate multi functional efforts to assure objectives are met in a timely & cost-effective manner. Provide requirements definition for specific projects & system components. Manage projects to develop & introduce new applications, and to improve existing applications. Manage projects to improve associated business processes. Define specific project or service deliverables. Estimate project or service resource requirements. Provide analysis, engineering and re-engineering of business processes & / or technical planning for implementing information technologies. Assess impact of new technologies & information requirements. Define & deploy the Strategic Planning Process. Disseminate strategic directions & directives. Identify technical architecture gaps. Participate in committees & task forces to improve effectiveness in area of responsibility. This position may require approximately 10-20% domestic and international travel. Qualified applicants must possess a BS/BA degree in a relevant technical discipline; an advanced degree is preferred. A minimum of 5 years experience in Information Technology or a related field is required. Knowledge of one or more of the following is preferred; prototyping concepts & methods, process modeling, problem solving techniques & methods, performance measurement / management systems, medical / technical fields, integrated resource management concepts, FDA (Food & Drug Administration) validation testing, general finance / accounting concepts, business practices & environment, business process (re)engineering, benchmarking techniques and change management concepts & methods. Must be able to perform Information strategic planning, and possess the ability to communicate with customers & translate their needs into design requirements documents. Project management and/or team building, facilitation & leadership experience required. Must possess the ability to manage multiple assignments of varying difficulty (in both a leadership & a subordinate role) on both an individual & team basis - with minimal supervision or direction. Must be able to make & execute decisions & solve problems with minimal supervision. Detailed knowledge of medical / technical / business practices, processes & procedures is preferred. Also knowledge of any of the following is preferred: Client / server environments, Data modeling, Object-oriented concepts & design, Powerviewer relational databases, Relational database theory, Requirements discovery, Structured analysis, System testing techniques / methods, Systems development methods, Diagramming techniques, GUI (Graphical User Interface) design and Access relational databases. Knowledge of: Networking environment, Good programming & System Design Practices, Business environment (manufacturing, inventory, etc.) & computer technology used by the individual operations group. Should be familiar with current standards & procedures governing testing, validation & implementation of software into a manufacturing/production environment. Familiarity with programming & system design is preferred. Knowledge of emerging computer technology & its impact on the business & information services environment is preferred.
