IT Manager
SUMMARY
Provide technology vision and leadership for developing and implementing Cogenics a Division of Clinical Data's Corporate IT infrastructure.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
· Lead a team of UNIX, Windows, Oracle, and network administrators to provide 24x7 support for research, clinical, laboratory and administrative computer systems.
· Directly participate in and manage a team of in-house and out-sourced technical personnel in the implementation and support of information technology solutions.
· Responsible for providing 24x7 support for production computer systems and maintaining FDA compliance.
· Work in conjunction with the Information Systems group to assess technical requirements and allocate the computing resources necessary to address the business requirements.
· Evaluate and recommend technical and implementation alternatives.
· Determine the applicability of available systems to solve user requirements.
· Evaluate new technologies relative to overall business needs and objectives and will define project objectives and evaluate costs/benefits of solution.
· Responsible for determining project schedules and budgets and effectively manage the allocation of resources onto project teams by understanding, tracking, and developing the technical skills of subordinates.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Manages one subordinate supervisors who supervise a total of one employee in the IT department. Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of these units. Also directly supervises five non-supervisory employees. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; and 10 plus years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Demonstrated experience with enterprise-level system implementation and maintenance. Demonstrated hands-on experience with hardware management. Project management experience preferred. Experience in a FDA regulated biotech/pharmaceutical company environment. Manufacturing environment experience is preferred. Strong interpersonal and communication skills and prior management experiences a must.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
