IT Technical Support Specialist

IT TECHNICAL SUPPORT SPECIALIST - Devens Location  JMPS-0808

Summary:

Fulfill daily IT functions related to IT Requests including handling applications and procedures related to backups, restores and antivirus.Coordinate all first level support activities including ID and network file/folder security, PC, printer and other peripheral hardware as well as software installation upgrades and troubleshooting in a Novell (5.1 and 6.5) and Windows (98-2003) environment. Track all IT service requests using IT request forms. Administer backups and restores.  Coordinates disaster recovery policies and procedures with Manager, Information Systems. Assist with the evaluation, recommendation and installation of hardware, software and applications. Document, track and monitor IT Requests to ensure that a timely, effective solution is satisfactory to the client.  Includes tracking of IT requests using IT Request forms and compiling monthly project and Help Desk ticket updates. Conduct new hire orientation training.  Includes providing documentation for new hire sessions.  Assist with other software training efforts as needed. Maintain IT policies and procedures manual. Assist with IT projects as needed.

Desired Job Experience:Knowledge of MS Office, Project and Visio.Familiarity with GroupWise 7.Demonstrated experience with Windows 98, NT 4.0, 2000 and XP.Demonstrated experience with Netware 5.X and 6.5.Familiarity with Zenworks for Desktops a plus.Demonstrated ability to understand a variety of IT concepts, practices and procedures.2 years minimum help desk and/or PC support preferably in a pharma/biotech environment.CCNA/CanMSCE

 

Desired Education / CertificationsA+ Certified

 

Other Special Skills:Excellent communication skills, judgment and business acumen.Ability to work in a multi-national employed firm.Ability to move PC components and parts.Willingness and ability to travel to JMPS' North Andover facility.Willingness and ability to work after business hours and on weekends for special  projects
