LIMS ADMINISTRATOR/ R&D DATA MANAGEMEN

The Protein Optimization platform at Monsanto-Cambridge is seeking an enthusiastic, highly motivated individual to contribute to the implementation of the platform's laboratory information management system (LIMS), data management, and bioinformatics support. The successful candidate will have solid laboratory experience, a deep understanding of molecular biology techniques, and thorough familiarity with laboratory automation and LIMS.

In this  role the candidate will develop process maps, gather LIMS and data management requirements from users, work in a team to implement an integrated LIMS and promote higher levels of efficiency through the development of data management solutions. The position offers significant growth possibilities and will allow the candidate the opportunity to contribute to the development of improvements to data management and bioinformatics tools.

The successful candidates will possess a BS or MS in Bioinformatics, Computer Science, or equivalent field with 3-5 years of industrial experience. The candidate must have a working knowledge and technical experience in nucleic acid technology, including but not limited to: primer design, nucleotide acid isolation, PCR, gene cloning, vector construction, gene assembling, sequence analysis, and site-directed mutagenesis. Industrial experience in LIMS implementation, databases, and computer programming, with a proven ability to interact with users to gather requirements are essential. Creativity, self-motivation, good communication skills, and strong team orientation are required.

Desired skills/experience:
Skills in the following areas are highly desired: Oracle, MySQL, or Microsoft Access; a .NET programming language, such as Visual Basic or Visual C#; a scripting language, such as Perl or Python; and a LIMS, such as Nautilus or LabWare. Efficient multitasking and attention to detail are essential, as are strong trouble shooting skills related to laboratory processes and LIMS behavior.
