Lab Assistant - Food research and production

Kelly Scientific is looking to place a Lab Assistant with our client based in Pleasanton. This is a great entry level position into the food research industry.Position Summary:As a Technician in the Foods Product Research & Development group, you will provide support in performing technical and experimental work on diverse food product formulations. You will have the opportunity to work independently on Product Improvement projects and deliver cost savings opportunities. You will support division objectives by working on projects with several Food Scientists on Salad Dressing and BBQ sauce platforms. We will work with you to develop your career objectives.Key Responsibilities:"With minimal guidance you will design, execute, summarize results and recommend future experiments. Record, process, and compile data accurately to identify outliers, find trends, and summarize results. "With minimal guidance, you will drive project work to objectives in timely manner with well thought-out plans and critical thinking."Obtain valid results in a safe yet timely manner. Maintain equipment and work environment. "Communicate effectively with supervisor and co-workers. Clear articulation of results, implications, and next steps."With minimal guidance, you will lead and coordinate with other functions: new test method development, consumer and sensory testing, and product/package stability testing.."Maintain lab books and other forms of data storage and record keeping."After instruction, maintains ability to execute routine tasks, operations, and procedures. Follow best practices as directed. Required Qualifications:"Minimum of BS diploma in Food Science, Biology or Chemistry, or equivalent education plus relevant experience."Ability, interest or experience in math and science."Strong hands-on focus and creative problem solving skills. "Good organization, prioritization and decision making skills desired."Push for results and desire to learn."Solid team-work and collaboration skills. Strong interpersonal skills."Display proactive style."Enthusiasm -- with at least a basic interest in foods and/or the culinary arts.Desired Qualifications:"Previous CPG experience."Previous Foods Product Development or Culinary experience.
