Lab Supervisor (08-020)
Plan, implement, coordinate, manage and audit training activities covering training curriculum, materials, delivery, test administration, documentation, and audits for assigned departments and/or functional units. Supervise the training activities of instructors, preceptors and facilitators and ensure training staff competency and professional development. Ensure that training activities are in compliance with all regulations, including the requirements detailed in the Consent Decree. Act as resource to staff, training specialists and management on training issues. Perform all duties and responsibilities in compliance with standard operating procedures, Safety Quality Identity Potency Purity (SQUIPP), regulations outlined in the Code of Federal Regulations (CFR), Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and other applicable Federal, state and local regulations. Specific responsibilities will include:Responsible for the supervision of the laboratory staff including: hiring, training, coaching, evaluating, disciplining employees to ensure a well-qualified team and to enhance operational success.Responsible for staff training certification of competency.Assist in the review and update of laboratory procedures to comply with changes in regulations, ARCBS directives, local and regional policies/procedures and technical advancements.Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations, AABB/ASHI standards, CLIA, ARCBS directives and regional policies and procedures.May assist in writing, organizing and maintaining technical sections of departmental procedures.May participate in the validation and/or trouble-shooting of hardware, software, instrumentation, test kits and procedures as directed.May perform, review and approve quality control on products, reagents, equipment and various test kits. May maintain and review the required records and files.May be responsible for the accuracy of computer and physical blood component inventories.Perform other related duties as necessary.
Minimum qualifications for this position include:Bachelor's degree in science (or equivalent experience working in field) with MT (ASCP) certifications or equivalent certifications where required. SBB certification preferred.Minimum 3 years laboratory experience.Experience supervising others in a work or lab setting is preferred.Good communication and computer skills required.
