Lab Technician

In business for over a decade and leader in Scientific and Engineered Staffing, S&S Professional Services provides a wide variety of staffing solutions to companies in the greater Houston area is currently seeking a Laboratory Technician in the Polymer Science group of the Company`s R&T Division. The Polymer Science group is engaged in Research and Development activities in a number of different areas related to plastics/polymers including polymer processing, GPC, NMR, Rheology and Additives & Stabilization. This position within the Polymer Science group will be in an area that supports a large cross-section of customers including manufacturing plants, technical service groups, application development group and research groups.

Responsibilities:

· Independently perform routine tests in the laboratory utilizing requisite lab equipment and instruments

· Upkeep with daily maintenance and repairs of all the equipment in the laboratory

· Interact and work with equipment vendors in trouble-shooting problems, coordinating and overseeing vendor service calls

· Routinely gather/chart/record/transmit data along with limited data analysis for customers on a regular and ongoing basis

· Perform general laboratory maintenance to ensure that the laboratory is in full compliance with all safety, environmental and health regulations and procedures along with calibration of all the equipment as necessary

· Responsible for the weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual safety compliance of the laboratory, in conjunction with and supervision of a Senior Scientist 

· Monitoring inventory of essential laboratory supplies; order materials and supplies in accordance with established policies and procedures to ensure minimal downtime

Skills Required:

· Excellent computer knowledge and exposure to basic computing, including Excel data spreadsheets and charting, Adobe, Word and PowerPoint software.  Must exhibit a willingness and desire to expand these skills further in this job.

· Work well in a team environment with other technicians as well as with a cross-section of the laboratory customer base

· Good oral and written communication skills

· Experience in a Laboratory/Research setting a plus

· Knowledge of electrical circuitry and computer hardware considered a plus

Years Exp.: Will Accept Entry-Level OR 1-2 years Experience in Laboratory/Research if DEGREED.  3+ Years Experience if NON-DEGREED.

Start Date: ASAP

Work Schedule: 40 Hours - Flexible Schedule: 8AM -4:30PM (30 Minute Lunch Break)

Length of Assignment:  6 Months Temp-Perm

Pay rate:  Industry Competitive Depending on Experience

Location: Bartlesville, OK

Education Required: High School Diploma or GED REQUIRED with a B.S. degree in engineering or science fields PREFERRED.
